The Dawn of the Super MenBy: DAVE WOYNAROWSKI, M.D.The World's Top Anti-Aging Specialist Before I begin this article I must caution you that some of the topics and statements in here will undoubtedly be offensive and upsetting to some. It is not my intention to make political or religious statements or to question or challenge anyone's beliefs. We live in an age where the quest for longer and better lives is taking place at a pace that would be unimaginable just a few short decades ago. This is bound to present us with all kinds of moral and ethical dilemmas. I can only assure you of one thing, Progress in this field will continue not matter what leaders of all sorts say or do. I suspect that the biggest jumps in anti-aging technology will occur in China or a Pacific Rim country like Singapore which has made anti-aging a national doctrine. I have no doubt that the U.S. will also play a major if lesser role also. Somewhere in Germany there is a little 5 year old boy who already looks like a body builder. Right now he has the strength of a 12 year old and by the time he hits 12 he will probably be able to put most adults to shame, even before he goes through puberty. This little boy has a genetic mutation in a gene that makes a protein called myostatin. Myostatin is the protein that limits muscle growth. It also interferes with fat synthesis effectively shifting the muscle to fat ratio towards higher numbers. The net result is animals and people with much more muscle and much less fat. Scientists are furiously working on creating this gene in synthetic fashion so it can be inserted in to the genome of various animals and people. The first group of people who could benefit are those with muscular dystrophy where muscle fibers die at an accelerated rate and are replaced by scar tissue and fat. The next group would be those suffering from the muscle wasting disorders associated with cancers, auto immune diseases and AIDS. I can also tell you professional and wealthy amateur athletes are looking at this very closely. In point of fact it now appears that soon to follow this type of therapy will be a kind of genetically implantable growth hormone gene. At this juncture Human Growth Hormone injections are the most effective way to break genetic limitations of muscle growth, reverse the muscle loss caused by aging, and break the connection between absolute use levels (how much exercise you do) and the growth of muscle cells. They require skill and knowledge to handle safely and effectively but are unquestionably the hottest technology we have right now.
